10 Activities That'll Definitely Make You Seem Like A Local

We asked you for the best ways to work out (and hang out) over a weekend in SF. Here are our favorite answers.

Plus a few embarrassing moments, because hey. It happens.

1. Pick Up a Cubano to Go

Get a Cubano from Sol Food and then hike the loop above Rodeo Beach. Set up a picnic on the beach and go to town on that sandwich.

2. Hit Up Balletto Vineyards

Do a wine tasting at Balletto Vineyards in Sonoma County (no appointment required). They have a full-sized baseball field behind their tasting room... it's like adult Sandlot.

Awkward Workout Moment #1

"I once ran into two different exes in one day on a trail in SF. This city can be way too small."

3. Try Trouble Coffee Toast

Swim at Ocean Beach and then hit Trouble Coffee in the Outer Sunset for some cinnamon toast and a fresh coconut. If you're still hungry, Pizza Place on Noriega is pretty solid.

4. Listen to Post-Hike Live Music

Take a (long) hike on the Matt Davis trail in Stinson Beach (we really like the Davis > Dipsea 7-mile loop). Then grab a beer at the Sand Dollar...just maybe skip the food. On summer weekends, they have live jazz music on the patio.

5. Boulder at Glen Canyon

Go bouldering in Glen Canyon Park. If you have no idea WTF bouldering is, don’t let that stop you — this is a great spot for beginners. Plus, it’s only a 10 minute walk from the Glen Park BART.

Awkward Workout Moment #2

"One time I hit the cable car tracks at just the wrong angle and ate it in front of 50 people (including my boss? What are the chances...)."

6. Bike An Open Road

Bike through Golden Gate Park to The Park Chalet, have a few beers, then bike back (carefully). Go on Sundays when the park is closed to cars all day from Stanyan to Park Presidio.

7. Try SF's Best Bloody Mary

This might be controversial, but we've tried 'em all, and we think the city's best Bloody Mary is at Zeitgeist. If you must incorporate a workout, grab some friends for a class at Yoga to the People beforehand.

8. Undo Your Workout at the Pelican Inn

Hike the coastal trail in Muir Beach and then grab some bangers & mash on the lawn at the Pelican Inn.

Awkward Workout Moment #3

"I passed out in a SoulCycle class. Does it have to be so FREAKING hot in there?!"

9. Watch The Roller Skaters at GGP

Pack up a cooler of beer and snacks and go watch the roller skaters at GGP...at least someone’s exercising.

10. Play Bocce with Real Italians

Play bocce ball in Aquatic Park at Fort Mason. It’s $10 for unlimited play, you can bring in your own snacks and drinks, and the attendant Bob also happens to be king of banter.

To Shower...or Not To Shower?

We also asked people if they typically shower right after a workout, or go on with their day.
